Worried about Healthcare Costs in Retirement?
My coworkers know that I just radically changed my diet over the past month. I went from being the guy in the office who would eat three pieces of birthday cake when it was sitting in the kitchen to a strict diet of food that’s actually good for you (meat, fruits, veggies, healthy fats, etc.). I was super committed to this program for one month. Let me tell you, my worst fears were confirmed. I felt a lot better by the end of the month, which meant that I should stick with it. (Okay, so maybe it’s not my worst fear, but it’s a lot harder to going back to three pieces of cake when you see how much better you feel without them).
What does this have to do with you? We all know that medical costs are skyrocketing in the U.S. The number one worry for retirees is making sure they can pay for those large, unknown future costs. Well, all this time the answer to this crisis has been sitting in front of us. Let’s actually start eating healthy and making sure we work out three times per week. I promise you will feel better if you do that.
Having a family history of heart disease, I know not all medical problems can be prevented. For me, that gives me even more incentive to give myself the best chance at staying healthy. What do you say? Are you willing to give it a shot? The potential medical savings are in the thousands of dollars over your lifetime. Oh, and you’ll feel better over your lifetime too.
