Days are Long but the Years are Short

As a new parent, I’ve been told that the days are long but the years are short. That means sometimes I’m at wits end because I’m not sleeping enough and I don’t know how I’ll get through the day. But then I’ll blink and little Raelyn will be going off to college. The same could be said for stock market investing.

October was a horrible month for stocks. The world stock market was down over 7%. That’s a long month. Why do we tolerate it? Because the long-term experience is so positive. Even after October, the 10-year return for the world stock market is nearly 10% per year.

Don’t let a bad month in the markets get you down. Keep following your plan. If that plan involves investing more in stocks, keep at it. You are likely to be happy you did when you look back at it ten years from now.
