CTFO uses a proprietary process for managing the wealth of our client families, developed by our professional staff and based on their combined industry experience. We believe creating a framework to guide financial and investment decision-making adds the greatest value for families of wealth; it has been our experience that focusing too intently on product ideas at the expense of process can be detrimental to the overall effectiveness of a family's wealth strategy. By adhering to a disciplined and rigorous process, CTFO provides structure around decision-making that leads to more efficient, better-managed family financial situations. Our process is iterative and dynamic in nature; we believe a family's financial situation evolves over time, and requires a recurring process that recalibrates the investment and wealth strategy to the family's changing needs.
Perform Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Analysis
CTFO is committed to providing wealth counsel within the context of understanding its client families' entire financial situation. In order to formulate wealth strategies, CTFO analyzes balance sheet and cash flow information provided by the client family. The balance sheet is used throughout our process as a framework for establishing a common understanding of our client family's goals and objectives and identifying risks and opportunities within their financial situation. Only after the balance sheet analysis is complete, including assessment of illiquid assets, liabilities, and cash needs, can formulation of an investment strategy commence.
Formulate an Investment Strategy
Our professional team works through a multi-stage process that builds an investment strategy using the framework established in each client family's customized balance sheet. The stages include identifying investment assets, establishing investment objectives, preparing investment asset allocation, structuring the portfolio, and selecting individual investment opportunities.
Evaluate Pro-Forma Balance Sheet Scenarios
The purpose of the wealth strategy is to illustrate the possible impact of various investment strategies on the family's ability to meet and/or exceed their liabilities. In this way, we thoughtfully develop an overall strategy that balances the conflicting goals of minimizing near-term drawdown potential and preserving the long-term potential of the assets, after payment of taxes, to exceed liabilities.
Execute, Coordinate and Provide Oversight
CTFO provides oversight of investment strategies, access to a global trust custodian, facilitation of all account activity at the custodian, collaboration with other advisors, including legal counsel, tax advice and preparation, and insurance professionals, and management of disbursements to various bank accounts. CTFO's centralized structure enables us to access and coordinate the wealth management activities of our client families.
